Manisha received advice not to do the film 'Bombay', later the decision proved right

One of the best films of Manisha Koirala is Bombay (1995)'. She talks bout the films saying that this film of Mani Ratnam completely changed her image on the big screen. Mani Ratnam was successful in highlighting her beauty and acting in the film. This is the reason why even today Manisha respects director Mani Ratnam a lot as an actress. Recently she said that when this film was offered to her, many people put doubt in her mind that if she did this film, she would not get heroine roles in the future.

Manisha says, 'When the film 'Bombay' was offered to me, I was not very mature. Many people around me at that time advised or rather warned me not to do this film. Actually, in this film, I also had to play the role of a mother of two children. In such a situation, someone said that if you appear in the role of a mother now, then you will not get heroine roles in the future. Then I met cinematographer Ashok Mehta ji, he explained to me that I should work with Mani sir. I agreed with his point.'

Manisha further says, 'I met Mani Ratnam sir, after meeting him I became a fan of him. His creativity mesmerized me. When my look test for the film was done, I realized that Mani sir was making a different kind of film. In another interview, Manisha said that working with Mani Ratnam gave her a chance to develop herself as an actress.

In 2023, Manisha was seen in the movie 'Shehzada'. This year, she was seen in a powerful avatar of Mallikajaan in the series 'Heeramandi' by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
