Pakistan’s Sindh Government Slams ‘Dhurandhar’, Announces Counter Film ‘Mera Lyari’
The film Dhurandhar depicts the story of the Lyari area of Karachi, Pakistan. The neighboring country's Information Department has objected to this and announced a new film that will show the true story of Lyari.
The film Dhurandhar is currently being discussed not only in India but also in neighboring Pakistan. The Information Department in Pakistan has protested against this movie featuring Ranveer Singh, which is described as a "propaganda film".
As if this is not enough, Pakistan is angered with the depiction of the story of ‘Lyari in Karachi’ in ‘Dhurandhar’, and a new film has been announced to undertake this very important task of representing ‘Lyari’s true story on screen’, in which they will compete with ‘Dhurandhar’.
In fact, the Hindi film Dhurandhar depicts the backdrop of the Lyari area of Karachi, Pakistan, between 1999 and 2009. It depicts issues such as gang wars, drug trafficking, police raids, arms races, and, most importantly, terrorism. Pakistan's Sindh Information Department has now protested this matter. The department's official X handle posted a recent tweet regarding Dhurandhar, which reads:
"Misrepresentation cannot erase reality. Lyari stands for culture, peace, and resilience—not violence. While Dhurandhar spreads propaganda, Mera Lyari will soon tell the authentic story of pride and prosperity. #MeraLyari movie releasing in January 2026. Indian propaganda against Lyari will never be successful."
In this way, Pakistan has officially announced a film titled Mera Lyari and shared the first look posters of the movie. One poster shows a woman and a girl, while the other poster shows a man wearing a turban on his head.
