The 56th International Film Festival of India is going on in Goa. Many prominent artists are arriving from India and abroad. Famous actor Pankaj Kapur also attended the festival. He appeared on the red carpet for a special screening of his famous film "Ek Doctor Ki Maut" (1990). This film is among the strongest critiques of systemic failures existing in Indian society. It was screened on the big screen at the festival using a newly restored print.

During the festival, he spoke to ANI about the increasing use of artificial intelligence in filmmaking. He said, "I don't know much about it. However, I believe that no matter what technology comes into the world, unless there is a sense of belonging, the work will not be complete. Technology can reach any level, but it cannot surpass humanity. It cannot surpass human feeling.

Directed by Tapan Sinha, the film "Ek Doctor Ki Maut" is based on the real-life struggles of a scientist. His work on a leprosy vaccine is suppressed due to bureaucracy and jealousy. Kapoor played Dr. Dipankar Roy.

The classic Malayalam film "Kireedam" (1989), starring the legendary actor Mohanlal, also had its world premiere in 4K restoration at the festival. It received a positive response from audiences and cinema lovers.

Mohanlal expressed his happiness at the film being released in a good print. He wrote, "I am very happy to share the world premiere of the 4K restoration of Kireedam (1989)." It was screened as part of a special screening at the 56th IFFI, Goa. The film has been restored in 35mm by the National Film Archive of India (NFDC). Thankfully, the archive preserved it for so many decades, despite the original negative deteriorating. It is an honor to see this classic film return to the screen.
