Pankaj Kapur, Mohanlal Shine at 56th IFFI as Restored Classics Premiere in Goa
IFFI 2025: Pankaj Kapur's film "Ek Doctor Ki Maut" premiered at the International Film Festival of India. Malayalam actor Mohanlal's film "Kireedam" also premiered. Both actors have reacted to the event.
The 56th International Film Festival of India is going on in Goa. Many prominent artists are arriving from India and abroad. Famous actor Pankaj Kapur also attended the festival. He appeared on the red carpet for a special screening of his famous film "Ek Doctor Ki Maut" (1990). This film is among the strongest critiques of systemic failures existing in Indian society. It was screened on the big screen at the festival using a newly restored print.
During the festival, he spoke to ANI about the increasing use of artificial intelligence in filmmaking. He said, "I don't know much about it. However, I believe that no matter what technology comes into the world, unless there is a sense of belonging, the work will not be complete. Technology can reach any level, but it cannot surpass humanity. It cannot surpass human feeling.
Directed by Tapan Sinha, the film "Ek Doctor Ki Maut" is based on the real-life struggles of a scientist. His work on a leprosy vaccine is suppressed due to bureaucracy and jealousy. Kapoor played Dr. Dipankar Roy.
