He was interrogated there. Rakesh says, "Sanjay Dutt initially said he hadn't committed any crime. I went up to him; he had long hair at the time. I slapped him, and he fell backwards. Then I grabbed his hair and pulled him up. I asked him if he would speak to me like a gentleman. Then he told me everything. He also asked him not to tell Sunil Dutt. Then I asked him, 'How can I not tell your father?'"

Rakesh Maria further explains in the interview, "Sanjay Dutt is brought into the room, he sees his father (Sunil Dutt). He cries like a child. He falls at Sunil Dutt's feet and says, 'Papa, I made a mistake.'" Rakesh Maria explained that when Sanjay Dutt admitted his mistake, Sunil Dutt's face turned pale.
