The Ministry of Home Affairs announced this year's Padma Awards a day before Republic Day 2026. These awards honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the country. Late actor Satish Shah will be honored with the Padma Shri posthumously.
Satish Shah will be honored posthumously with the Padma Shri for his acting contributions. Sadly, he passed away on October 25th last year. He left a deep mark on Indian films and television. It is hoped that his wife, Madhu Shah, will receive the award.
Satish Shah, speaking to NDTV about this honor, said that Satish's work is finally receiving the rightful recognition. He lived life to the fullest, but it's a shame he didn't receive this honor while he was alive. Rupali Ganguly (who played his daughter in Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai) expressed her emotional joy, saying, "It's a very happy moment, but also sad that Kaka (Satish Shah) is no more. He deserved it."
The Padma Awards are given for long-term contributions in fields such as art, education, sports, and social service. Satish Shah has done exceptional work in Indian cinema and television. Born on June 25, 1951, Satish Shah trained at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). Initially, he played small roles, then gained fame with the 1983 film "Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron." He played memorable roles in films such as "Hum Aapke Hain Koun," "Main Hoon Na," and "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi." He became a household name on TV with "Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi" and, especially, "Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai."
