'Udaipur Files' producer Amit Jani claims that he is getting death threats on call

After a long legal battle, the film 'Udaipur Files' has finally been released in theaters. However, all is not well for the film's makers. The producer of the film Amit Jani has now stated that he is being issued death threats regarding the film.

When the Delhi High Court denied staying the release of the film, 'Udaipur Files' was released nationwide on Friday. The film, inspired by the actual 2022 murder of Kanhaiya Lal, was plagued by legal issues. Numerous individuals had asserted that some such things have been depicted in this film that may lead to controversy.

On Saturday, Amit Jani said on X that he is getting repeated calls from an unknown number. The caller has threatened to blow him up or shoot him. Jani further said that the caller told his name as Tabrez, a resident of Bihar. In his post, Jani demanded that the authorities to register a case against the caller and arrest him. Jani has also tagged the Union Home Minister and the Prime Minister, as well as the UP Police, in this post.

Last month, the central government provided Y-category security to the producer of Udaipur Files in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. He had said that his life was in danger.

Udaipur Files, starring Vijay Raj in the role of Kanhaiya Lal, was earlier scheduled to release on July 11, but it was delayed due to censorship and legal hurdles. The Supreme Court had directed the Delhi High Court to settle the challenges filed against the government's approval for the release of the film.

The film is based on the 2022 murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal, who was murdered by two men in broad daylight in his shop in Udaipur, Rajasthan. He had allegedly posted a social media post in support of former BJP member Nupur Sharma, who had made controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad during a debate show on a private news channel. Udaipur Files is directed by Bharat S Srinet and Jayant Sinha. It is produced by Amit Jani.
