Talking about his relationship with his father-in-law Ajay Kumar Sharma, Virat said, 'Even now, my father-in-law and I are like friends, I can share literally everything with him. He is an ex-army man. His perspective is very fearless and clear. It is absolutely amazing when I talk to him about any topic. And my mother-in-law, too. Very beautiful people. And my brother-in-law, too.'
Virat said, 'They are all very welcoming. At the end of the day, when you mingle with people who accept you so quickly, you realise that relationships are based only on mutual respect and understanding and unconditional love... This is something I have absolutely experienced.'
Anushka and Virat's relationship began in 2013. The two met while shooting for a shampoo brand advertisement. By 2014, they made their relationship public. On December 11, 2017, Virat and Anushka got married. The wedding was attended by close family and friends. The couple later hosted receptions in Delhi and Mumbai to celebrate with family and friends.
Virat-Anushka welcomed their first child, a daughter named Vamika, on January 11, 2021. Their second child, a son named Akay, was born on February 15, 2024.
