Diljit Dosanjh Reacts to Green Card Question Amid US Citizenship Speculation and 'Satluj' Controversy
Diljit Dosanjh: Diljit Dosanjh has responded to the ongoing discussions about his US citizenship. Find out why he said this will become news...
Diljit Dosanjh makes the headlines once again owing to his citizenship issue, whereas his movie "Satluj" remains under discussion. In May, it was reported that he received US citizenship in 2022, and there was no reply from him until now. Recently, Diljit was interviewed by his followers on social media regarding his citizenship issue. There was no direct response from his side, but he made fun to resolve the confusion.
During an Instagram Live session, one of his fans suggested him to apply for a green card as his movie "Satluj" was removed from the Zee5 OTT app. Diljit responded by saying, "I’ll apply for a card and will color it green. I am not saying anything."
It'll become news, leaving everything behind. It doesn't happen that way. The world's drama will never end. But I believe everyone should be allowed to travel to any country without a visa. The whole world should be one. I'm fine, but that's not possible, right?"
In another live chat, a fan jokingly requested Diljit to talk to US President Donald Trump and help everyone get American citizenship. Diljit laughed off the request and said, "What do you guys think of me? I'm just an artist.
How can I ask him to resolve the citizenship issue? His daughter follows me, but I've never even spoken to her. I never ask for any favors from anyone. If something is destined to happen, it happens." If it's not meant to be, it won't be.
Earlier, according to a report in 'The Indian Express,' Diljit had obtained US citizenship in 2022. The report also claimed that the singer's wife, Sandeep Kaur, is an American citizen. It also stated that Diljit had described a five-bedroom bungalow in a posh area of California as his home.
'Sutlej' (formerly titled 'Punjab 95') is based on the life of Punjab human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. Khalra investigated the alleged cremation of approximately 25,000 unidentified bodies between 1984 and 1994.
The film tells the story of his kidnapping in 1995 and the subsequent conviction of four Punjab police officers for Khalra's kidnapping and murder in 2005. Diljit plays Khalra in the film.
"Satluj" was supposed to be released in theaters, but after a nearly four-year-long battle with the CBFC, the film was finally released on ZEE5. However, it was removed just two days after it began streaming on the platform. In addition to Diljit, the film also stars Arjun Rampal, Suvinder Vicky, and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan in pivotal roles. It is directed by Honey Trehan.
