The Midnight Encounter

Recounting the incident, Akshay said, "Toh sir, main subah 4:30 baje uthta tha. Kareena ka room baaju mein tha. Ek din, suddenly yeh darwaza khula, toh yeh sahab nikle. And sir aaye... 'Kya kar rahe ho?'... 'Nahi, kuch nahi, we are both going for a jog.'" (I used to wake up at 4:30 in the morning. Kareena's room was right next door. One day, suddenly the door opened and this gentleman stepped out. And I asked, "What are you doing?" He said, "No, nothing, we are both going for a jog.")

Saif Plays Along With the Old Alibi

True to the spirit of the throwback, Saif immediately joined in to maintain the decades-old cover story, repeating with a laugh, "Yes! Early morning jog." Akshay added to the fun, quipping, "So he had come to wake her up to go for a jog," a remark that had the entire studio audience bursting into laughter.

The anecdote offered fans more than just a laugh, it provided a warm glimpse into the genuine camaraderie the three actors built while working together on "Tashan," the 2008 action comedy directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. Such candid, unscripted moments on shows like KBC continue to resonate strongly with audiences, offering a rare peek behind the curtain of Bollywood's most enduring friendships and love stories.

The Film That Started It All

"Tashan" starred Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles, and it was on this set that Saif and Kareena's professional collaboration evolved into a personal relationship at a significant point in both their lives. Their romance blossomed during the shoot, marking the beginning of what would become one of Bollywood's most prominent real-life love stories.

From Co-Stars to Married Life

After dating for several years following their "Tashan" days, Saif and Kareena eventually married in 2012. The couple is now parents to two sons, Taimur and Jehangir, and remains one of Bollywood's most publicly beloved families.

The Bigger Picture

Moments like this KBC reunion highlight how Bollywood's off-screen friendships often outlast individual film projects, resurfacing years later in shared nostalgia and playful banter. For audiences, such throwbacks add an extra layer of warmth to already well-known love stories, humanising stars through candid, relatable memories.

The Bottom Line

Akshay Kumar's cheeky recollection of Saif Ali Khan's early-morning "jog" alibi added a delightful dose of nostalgia to the KBC episode, reminding fans of the fun-filled beginnings of Saif and Kareena's now well-established love story, nearly two decades after it all began on the sets of "Tashan."
