Dhurandhar 2 Faces Legal Trouble, Petition Filed in Madras High Court to Ban Release

The movie, "Dhurandhar 2" made by Aditya Dhar, is at the center of yet another controversy. Sources indicate that a swift petition has been made to the Madras High Court, requesting that the movie be banned in the state of Tamil Nadu. The petition is based on the code of conduct before the assembly elections.
According to Live Law, a lawyer argued before the judge that the film deals with political themes and should not be screened during the elections. Since elections are due in Tamil Nadu within a month, the timing of the film's release has become a matter of controversy.
The bench directed the petitioner to file a formal writ petition and then seek an urgent hearing. A decision on whether the film's release will be stayed will be made only after the court hears the petition.
Amidst the legal disputes, Ranveer Singh-starrer "Dhurandhar 2" is breaking several box office records. It has become the second Indian film, after the spy thriller "Pushpa 2," to record a spectacular opening weekend, grossing over ₹761 crore worldwide within just four days of its release.
While "Pushpa 2" leads the charts with ₹795.50 crore in its first four days, "Dhurandhar 2" has surpassed major films like "Baahubali 2," "RRR," and "KGF 2" in terms of opening weekend performance.
"Dhurandhar 2" released on March 19 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The film also stars R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjan, and Rakesh Bedi.
