An FIR has been registered against a popular Bollywood actor named Ranveer Singh in Bengaluru. This FIR relates to a film by a filmmaker named Rishabh Shetty, "Kaantara: Chapter 1." Ranveer Singh has been accused of offending religious sentiments in this case.
According to ANI, an FIR has been filed against Ranveer Singh in Bengaluru. The actor is accused of insulting religious sentiments and the divine tradition of coastal Karnataka. This complaint against Ranveer Singh was filed by Bengaluru lawyer Prashant Methal.
The case in which the complaint has been filed against Ranveer Singh is related to an incident that occurred in connection with the Goa Film Festival. In fact, on November 28th of last year, Ranveer Singh attended the International Film Festival of India in Goa. During the event, he mentioned actor and director Rishab Shetty's film "Kantara Chapter 1" on stage and also mocked the coastal Bhuta Kola tradition of Karnataka. Rishab Shetty even stopped him from doing so. This hurt the religious sentiments of many people. A complaint has been filed against Ranveer Singh in this matter.
This case has been referred to the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Bengaluru. Its hearing is scheduled for April 8th. A Bengaluru lawyer filed a private complaint before the Additional Judicial Magistrate on December 27th of last year. On January 23rd, 2026, the court ordered the High Grounds Police Station to register an FIR.
