Recently, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone demanded an eight-hour workday. Since then, she has reportedly had to opt out of the Telugu films "Spirit" and "Kalki 2898 AD." The entire issue has evoked much debate and discussion. Almost all actors are divided on this issue. Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, and "Got" producer Archana Kalpathy have expressed their views on the matter.

During an interview with THR India, Rana Daggubati was asked about working eight hours. He replied, "It's not a job, it's a way of life." You either choose to be in it or not. Every film demands something else from you. This isn't a factory. It's not like we'll sit for eight hours, and the best work will come out.

On the issue of eight-hour shifts, Dulquer Salmaan told THR India that long working hours are common in the Malayalam film industry. He said, "In Malayalam, you just keep working. You never know when the work will end. But it's exhausting. When I did my first Telugu film (Mahanati in 2018), it was the first time in my acting career that I could go home by six. I thought things would be different when I became a producer. However, we can't do much. Working an extra hour a day is better than shooting an extra day."

Archana also joined the conversation, saying that a 9-5 schedule is "not possible" in cinema. She explained that big-budget films often require shooting during holidays.

Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati recently starred in and produced "Kaantha." The film was released on November 14th. It received positive reviews, but failed to make much of an impact at the box office.
