Hema Committee report shows effect, proposal to ban artists involved in sexual crimes
South Film Industry: An organization of South Indian actors has proposed a five-year ban on artists involved in sexual crimes.
As such, a five-year ban on the artists involved in sexual crimes has been proposed by Nadigar Sangam, a South Indian artists' organization. It is known that recently, after the report of the Justice Hema Committee, some shocking revelations came about sexual harassment against women in Malayalam cinema. After this report, a stir can be seen in the film industry, and the artists from different industries are also asking for some stern steps.
Famous actor Nasser, while talking to Times Now, has given information about the ban proposal. He says that if an artiste is involved in sexual crime and is on work for a film then it can affect the producer, hence this proposal has been brought to keep the producers alert in advance. In this proposal, the recommendation to ban will be sent to the Producer Association. Now, a new committee has been formed according to Nassar, which would contain some lawyers and NGOs working seriously on such cases.
Nassar was asked whether any complaint has been heard in the Tamil film industry after the report of Justice Hema Committee. On this, Nassar said that we had formed a committee in Nadigar Sangam in the year 2019. Some complaints were received at that time, after which we started an inquiry, but we cannot disclose it. Let us tell you that Nadigar Sangam is an association of South Indian artists and Nassar is its president.
Nassar also told that if any artist is a victim of sexual harassment, then he can put his complaint before Nadigar Sangam. His identity will be kept confidential and appropriate action will be taken in the matter. A number and mail ID have also been issued for this.
