Akshay Kumar announced his next film Bhoot Bangla, which will be directed by Priyadarshan on his birthday. The duo will be seen together after 14 years.

Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar collaborated in 'Hera Pheri', 'Bhool Bhulaiya', 'Bhagam Bhag' and 'Garam Masala'. Khatta Meetha released in the year 2010 was their last film together. This is a horror comedy film. But 59 years ago, Comedy King Mehmood brought a horror comedy film to Bollywood.

In 1965, there came a film named Bhoot Bangla in which Tanuja was the lead actress of this film and Mehmood was the actor of the film. The special thing is that Mehmood was not only the hero of the film but also its producer-director and writer.

Now, Mehmood's brother Anwar Ali gave his Take on the horror-comedy genre. In a conversation with E Times, Anwar says, "Seeds of horror comedy were shown in Bollywood by Mehmood an entertainer of that time." This film was a blockbuster in theatres.

He said that in a time when people were reluctant to experiment with new things in films, Mehmood did that. Earlier this film was going to be a musical comedy, but later a tadka of horror was also added to it along with comedy. This experiment of Mehmood was successful and a large number of viewers turned to the theaters to watch the first show of the film on the first day.

Anwar said that in those days when there was no such thing as VFS, computers had not come, and Mehmood was doing all this work with a single resource, his brain and comedy. During this, Anwar praised Priyadarshan and called him a great filmmaker.
