During a recent press conference held in Chennai, Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed the reason for his exit from Rajinikanth's film 'Thalaivar 173'. Find out why Lokesh Kanagaraj exited 'Thalaivar 173'.

The director of the movie "South," Lokesh Kanagaraj, was also attached to the movie "Thalaivar 173" starring Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. However, he had to leave the movie due to creative differences. He worked on the script of the movie for about a month and a half. After speaking with both the actors, the direction of the movie changed. Both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan wanted to do a light-hearted, fun movie after the action-packed movies they have done. Rajinikanth is making a comeback with an action movie like "Jailer 2," while Kamal Haasan is also preparing for an action movie like "Anbariv." Therefore, they deliberately wanted a different style of film. Lokesh said, "Such light films are not my cup of tea," which is why he left the project.

Lokesh also clarified rumors of a delay in "Kaithi 2." He said the delay wasn't due to a salary increase. Because of this, he had to restart an old project with Mythri Movie Makers, and only then did the new film with Allu Arjun begin. Regarding comparisons with Atlee (who is working with Allu Arjun), Lokesh said there's no rivalry between them. Both are focused on advancing Tamil cinema and would be happy with each other's success. Now, "Thalaivar 173" will be directed by Sibi Chakravarthy and produced by Kamal Haasan's company, Raaj Kamal Films International.

The good news from Lokesh is that he recently announced his new film with Allu Arjun. The teaser was released on the occasion of Pongal and Makar Sankranti. The film's title is yet to be finalized, with music by Anirudh, and shooting is scheduled to begin later this year.

Lokesh Kanagaraj is primarily known for his unique action-thriller blockbusters like "Managaram," "Kaithi," "Vikram," and "Leo" (2023). He is known for his films' intense suspense, multi-star casts, and technically advanced visuals.
