Mahesh Babu Undergoes Intense Training for Lord Rama’s Role in SS Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’

South superstar Mahesh Babu is currently in the news for SS Rajamouli's film 'Varanasi'. This big-budget film also has Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. In this film, Mahesh Babu will be portraying the role of Lord Rama. Now, Mahesh Babu has spoken about his preparations for the film.

Mahesh Babu plays the role of the character named Rudra in the film ‘Varanasi’. However, the role he plays is that of Lord Rama. In an interview given to Screen Rant Plus, Mahesh Babu discussed his preparation for the role. He explained that under the direction of SS Rajamouli, he worked hard to get everything right on screen, from his posture to his running technique. The actor said, "SS Rajamouli has his own style. There's a set process. So, when I play Lord Rama in this film, it's very important that my body language, the way my character walks and stands, is absolutely perfect." To perfect his expressions, he trained in Kalari, a traditional martial art of Kerala, for two to three months.

Speaking about his preparations, the actor further explained that Rajamouli wanted to change his running technique. So, I trained with a track and field team for six months, and although there were only two scenes in the film, I was willing to put in that kind of commitment for this film. But as I said, it's fun, and when you're in that mindset, it's fun. You don't think of it as hard work."

Last year, the makers held a big event to announce the title of "Varanasi." Mahesh Babu's look was also revealed in this film. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the film ever since this glimpse was revealed. Directed by SS Rajamouli, 'Varanasi' will be released in theatres on April 7, 2027. However, as always, buzz has already been created about this film of Rajamouli. Apart from Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra will be seen in the role of Mandakini and Prithviraj Sukumaran will be seen in the role of Kumbha. The music of the film has been composed by Oscar winner MM Keeravani.
