On Dharmendra’s 90th Birthday, Abhay Deol Remembers a Cherished Childhood Moment

Today is the birthday of late Bollywood actor Dharmendra. Fans are remembering him and praying for his soul to rest in peace following his death on November 24th. If Dharmendra were alive today, he would have turned 90 years old. On his birthday today, a close family member remembered him through a social media post. On Thursday, Dharmendra's nephew Abhay Deol shared an old picture on Instagram, which dates back to his childhood days. In the black and white photograph, Dharmendra seems quite young while Abhay looks quite small. Both can be seen posing for the camera.

Today, along with this special photo on Instagram, Abhay wrote an emotional post in memory of Dharmendra, "It was probably 1985 or 1986. I was little and someone had just scolded me, so I was sitting sad. He called me over, sat me on his lap, and said, 'Look at the light.' Then he had the photographer take this picture." Abhay further wrote, "I'm waiting for the day when my time comes and I hear him say those words again." Zoya Akhtar added a red heart emoji to Abhay's post.

Abhay Deol is the nephew of actor Dharmendra. His father, Ajit Deol, was Dharmendra's younger brother, making Dharmendra his uncle. Abhay is also the cousin of actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Abhay reportedly often called Dharmendra 'Papa', as the head of the Deol family (Dharmendra) was given the status of a father.
