Popular actor Prakash Raj took a strong position with regard to the film banning issue. He recently stated that irrespective of what ideology the film is based on, banning the film is wrong and is an enormous threat to freedom of expression. Prakash Raj clearly said, 'Nowadays people's feelings are getting hurt over small things, and this environment is dangerous.'

Prakash gave examples of many films that had faced controversies. He mentioned 'Padmaavat', 'Pathan', 'L2: Empuraan', and Fawad Khan's film 'Abir Gulaal'. These films not only had to face the strictness of the censor board, but also political pressure and public anger. On the controversy of 'Abir Gulaal', Prakash said, 'I am against banning any film, even if it is propaganda. Unless the film is promoting child exploitation or obscenity, why stop it? Let the public decide for themselves.'

Prakash also talked about the uproar during 'Padmaavat' and 'Pathan'. He told how Deepika Padukone received threats over her costume in 'Padmaavat' and the color of a song in 'Pathan'. "People were saying that we would cut off her nose. What is this tamasha, just for a cloth or color?'

Prakash believes that this is not just anger, but a well-thought-out strategy. He said, 'Some people want to create an atmosphere of fear. Films are not being made at all. Censorship is no longer being controlled at the state level, but from the center.' He warns that in this way, freedom of expression is slowly ending. The new generation is being intimidated to censor themselves before they speak or create anything.

Prakash gave the example of the recent film 'L2: Empuraan', which despite being approved by the censor board, had to face controversy over the depiction of the 2002 Godhra riots. The lead actor of the film Mohanlal had to apologize and some scenes were cut. On the other hand, referring to 'Kashmir Files', he said that some films are released without any hindrance, but others do not get such an easy opportunity. Prakash clearly said that this problem is not limited to any one party, but when the central government promotes it, it becomes more dangerous.
