Kalki 2898 AD Makes Historic Global Debut with ₹191.5 Crore Opening Day

Amitabh Bachhan, Prabhas and Deepika led Kalki 2898 AD on its opening day, had a box office collection of 191.150 crore. It emerged as this year's biggest box-office opener, breaking records in multiple languages. The film was released in Telugu and had a mass box office collection of Rs 24 crore in Hindi, Rs 4 crore in Tamil, Rs 2.2 crore in Malayalam, and Rs 30 lakh in Kannada. 

The film surpassed Yash's KGF Chapter 2, which earned Rs 159 crore on its opening day. Kalki 2898 AD features a dystopian world that is inspired by Hindu scriptures, set in the year 2898 AD. The film is directed by Nag Ashwin, and the stars are Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. In terms of nett collection, RRR made Rs 133 crore on its opening day, followed by Bahubali 2, which made Rs 121 crore. 

Kalki 2898 AD is based on the modern avatar of Hindu god Vishnu, who is said to have descended on earth to protect the world from evil forces. Legendary actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan said, 'I took part in the movie's shoot as a fan of cinema'. Kalki 2898 is aiming to have Rs 50 crore gross in India on day 2 and accordingly Rs 500 crore gross over the weekend worldwide.
