Rajeev Khandelwal, who has rocked TV serials to Bollywood movies and series, was once going to be the face of veteran producer-director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film. Almost every actor dreams of working with Bhansali. Rajeev was also desperate to work in Bhansali's movie, but it did not happen.

In a recent interview, Rajeev Khandelwal said that he was going to work with Bhansali in a film, which also starred Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan. He waited for a year for this film and finally, the movie was shelved. Rajeev said that he is sad that he was not told anything about this until the film failed. He had also shot for the poster with Vidya.

In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Rajeev Khandelwal said, "He (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) signed me for a film called Chenab Gandhi and kept me with him for nine months almost a year but the film was never made. Since I was bound by the contract, I could not do anything else. As soon as this chapter ended, I 'faced the truth'."

Rajiv said that he did not get a satisfactory explanation from Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the film not being made. He said, "After Aamir (movie) I wanted to do projects that had life in them. If they didn't work, I moved on. The sadness was that I was kept in the dark. I moved on. There was no depression. There was no complaint. I felt my time was being wasted, it's been a year."

Rajeev said that he did not want to waste his time, so he decided to move on. He said that it did not affect him. Vibhu Puri had told him that the film was not being made. When he asked Bhansali, the producer did not respond.

Rajeev Khandelwal did not blame Sanjay Leela Bhansali for ruining his career. He said, "It is not that he said that he would keep me with him for a year and ruin my career. I am sure he had no selfish motive. It was not done intentionally. It could be due to funding or some other reason, but he had no answer to it."
