Rashmika Mandanna Speaks on Overworking in Film Industry: “Please Don’t Force Actors to Do This”

Rashmika Mandanna is in the limelight currently, courtesy of her latest release, "Thama," and also for the soon-to-be-released film, "The Girlfriend." Besides this, rumors about Rashmika and Vijay Deverakonda's engagement are also the topic of debate among their fans. Amidst the ongoing debate in the industry about working hours, Rashmika has spoken about work-life balance. Previously, "The Girlfriend" producer SKN praised Rashmika, saying that she doesn't consider work as a matter of hours. Now, Rashmika has also spoken about balancing her personal and professional life and explained the importance of not overworking.

Recently, Rashmika Mandanna revealed that it had been several months since she had a full eight hours of sleep. Referring to this, when asked about balance in her professional life, Rashmika told Galt, "I think glorifying the idea of overworking is not right. I overwork, and I'm telling you, it's not advisable at all. Don't do that. It's not sustainable. Do what's comfortable for you, what's right for you. Work those eight hours, even those nine or ten hours, because believe me, it will save you in the long run. Like, I've seen a lot of conversations recently where people say, 'Well, I know the work schedule,' and so on. I've done both. It's not worth it."

The actress further added, "As is obvious, it's a responsibility that you have. I overwork myself because I take on more work than a normal person should." But I'm also not someone who tells my teams I can't do anything for them. If I know they're struggling and they say, 'No, I only have this location right now, and we have a lot to shoot in this time,' then I understand and I'll agree and do it.

During the conversation, Rashmika said that this has been happening in cinema for a long time. That's why we love our teams. But if I had to choose, I would say, please don't force actors to do this, because there's a lot going on. Not just actors, but directors, lightmen, musicians, everyone. As you know, office hours are 9 to 6, or 9 to 5, or 9 to 4. Let us do that.

Because I still have a family life I want to focus on, I still have sleep I want to get. I still want to work out, so, you know, I won't regret later wishing I'd been healthier and fitter and worked out when I was younger. I'm still thinking about my future. But right now, I don't have the right to say anything because I'm taking on too much responsibility.
