Currently, Vijay Varma is in the headlines for his upcoming OTT series, "Matka King." The actor is busy promoting the series. During the promotion, he recalled his early struggles in Mumbai, which shaped his life. He says these experiences are very similar to those of his character. He also talked about "Gully Boy."
Speaking to The Times of India, Vijay Varma mentioned a dialogue from his character in "Matka King" that he loves. It goes, "I neither want to win much nor lose much." The actor believes this sentiment has now become personal to him. He said, "I'm embracing this philosophy in my life. This role also reminds me of my early days. I came to Mumbai with a few clothes and a suitcase full of books. I came with dreams. I can relate to that part of my life."
Adding an interesting twist to his acting, Vijay mentioned his character of Hamza in "Darlings," explaining that the name recurs in other stories as well. He said, "When life gives you a character like Hamza, make him the Dhurandhar Hamza, not the Hamza from Darlings."
This signifies change and perseverance. Considering "Gully Boy" a turning point in his career, the actor said, "I'm grateful I got the opportunity to do that film when I was going through my darkest phase. It helped change the direction of my career."
On the work front, Vijay Varma will soon be seen in "Matka King." It tells the story of a cotton trader who becomes a gambling kingpin, Matka King. Vijay will be joined by Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, and Siddharth Jadhav in pivotal roles. "Matka King" will stream on Prime Video starting April 17th.
