His popular TV show “Satyamev Jayate,” which was telecast years ago, shed light upon various truths. Now, the startling reality regarding this TV show has been revealed. Aamir Khan’s nephew Imran Khan, who is also an actor, disclosed that Aamir Khan faced severe death threats because of this TV show.
During a conversation on the YouTube podcast "Unfiltered with Samdhish," Imran Khan revealed that the social issues depicted in "Satyamev Jayate" angered those associated with these evils. Particularly, the episode on the sensitive topic of female foeticide made many radicals uncomfortable. According to Imran, after the show, Aamir was warned that if he "spoke too much," people could reach his home and harm him.
Imran Khan said that he has closely observed Aamir Khan since childhood and has complete faith in his honesty and good intentions. According to him, "Satyamev Jayate" was not just a TV show for Aamir, but an attempt to hold a mirror to society. However, showing the truth can sometimes prove dangerous, and Aamir had to pay a heavy price for it.
Imran also explained that such threats became a learning lesson for Aamir Khan. He said that society often attempts to silence people by intimidating them—the message being, "Don't ask too many questions, don't tell too many truths." But Aamir never succumbed to these threats.
It's worth noting that "Satyamev Jayate" was considered one of the most influential social shows of its time. It openly discussed issues like dowry, child sexual abuse, honor killings, and female foeticide. The show received nationwide acclaim, but it also faced opposition.
