Ayan Mukerji Shares Emotional Tribute to Late Father Deb Mukerji on His Birth Anniversary

Bollywood film director Ayan Mukerji paid an emotional tribute to his father, veteran actor Deb Mukerji, via social media on the latter's birth anniversary. On this birth anniversary, which was in fact the first time he was without his father, Ayan relived childhood memories by sharing some unseen photos on Instagram. Fans and family members alike were moved by these photos.

Ayan posted a photo on social media. In this photo, he is very young. Ayan is seen sitting on his father, Deb Mukerji's lap. The photos brought tears to the eyes of his fans and family members. Ayan also shared an old card he had written for his father as a child on his birthday. In the comments section of the post, his cousin and actress Tanisha Mukherjee wrote, "Happy Birthday Debu Kaka."

Deb Mukherjee passed away in March at the age of 83. He was a prominent figure in the Hindi film industry and had worked in numerous films. The official statement issued on his death described him as the soul of the North Bombay Durga Puja Committee. His contribution can be gauged from the fact that his passing was considered the end of an era. Ayan, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, and the entire Mukherjee family were present at his funeral. He was laid to rest at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu, Mumbai.

During Deb Mukherjee's prayer meeting, there was a moment when Ayan faced the media for the first time in such a personal setting. He requested photographers that this day was very personal for the family, and the noise of cameras could disrupt the atmosphere.

Deb Mukherjee's film career was extremely diverse. He gave memorable work in films like Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool, Abhinetri, Do Aankhen, Baatein Baatein Mein, and Gudgudi. He was the uncle of Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Tanishaa and was considered the guardian of the cultural traditions of the Mukherjee family.
