Madhuri Dixit Recalls Facing Body Shaming Early in Career, Says Social Media Has Made It Worse

Madhuri shared, “Being a public figure, it is really hard because one has to deal with all kinds of opinions and views from society. When I started my career, everyone used to say that I looked too slim. People used to ask me, ‘Feed her something.’ It is quite easy for people to comment.” Whether one becomes fat or skinny, people will always comment.

Madhuri also said that in earlier times, dealing with such things was a little easier because there was no social media. She said, "In today's times, because of social media and its anonymity, people say anything. But it's important to focus on your work, do what you love, and learn to love yourself."

Madhuri Dixit began her career in the 1980s with the film "Abodh" (1984). Initially, many of her films did not do well, and it took time for her to establish herself in the industry.

Her fortunes changed with the film "Tezaab" (1988), in which she appeared alongside Anil Kapoor. The song "Ek Do Teen" from this film became a huge hit, making Madhuri a star overnight. She subsequently established herself as a top Bollywood actress with several hit films, including "Ram Lakhan," "Dil," and "Saajan."

The story revolves around Rekha (Madhuri), a single mother who suddenly calls her two daughters, Jaya and Sushma, one night and informs them that the body of their neighbor, Gupta (Ravi Kishan), is lying in their house. The three then work together to overcome this difficult situation. The film explores societal thinking, judgment, and the pressures faced by women.
