Today, Monday, December 22nd, the Delhi High Court has safeguarded the personality rights of film actor R. Madhavan in a way that prevents all online sites from using his name and pictures for commercial purposes.
According to news agency PTI, the Delhi High Court on Monday protected the personality rights of Bollywood actor R. Madhavan, preventing several websites and online platforms from illegally using his name or images for commercial gain without the actor's consent.
The High Court has also banned the accused from using the symbols of Madhavan’s personality via AI. Moreover, the removal of certain obscene content posted on the internet has also been ordered by the High Court. Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora announced that she would give a detailed order in the case.
The court stated, "The sale of goods against defendants 1, 3, and 4 in the list, and against defendant 2, should be prohibited on the grounds of obscenity." The actor's lawyer, Senior Advocate Swati Sukumar, argued that one of the defendants had created a fake movie trailer for the upcoming film "Kesari 3," claiming the film was about to release, and posted deepfake and AI-generated content in Madhavan's name. She stated that the actor had already contacted social media platforms regarding the infringing content before filing the lawsuit.
On the work front, R. Madhavan is currently seen in the film "Dhurandhar." Directed by Aditya Dhar, this spy action thriller stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal. This film has become a part of the 500 crore club at the box office.
