Kunal Kemmu Faces Backlash Over Comments on Deepika Padukone’s 8-Hour Work Shift Debate
Kunal Kemmu: Kunal Kemmu has spoken about eight-hour work shifts, offering advice to women, which has drawn criticism from users.
Actor Kunal Kemmu recently addressed Deepika Padukone's alleged demand for eight-hour work shifts. During a conversation on Soha Ali Khan's podcast, Kemmu said that a woman should "plan her pregnancy better." He said that no one can expect to earn more money while working fewer hours. People have reacted to his comments.
During a conversation with Soha Ali Khan, Kemmu said, "Become a producer, invest your own money, then you'll be the boss. Then you can decide whether you want to work only two hours or not. It's much easier to do that on someone else's dime."
He further said, "You have a choice. There's a nine-month incubation period. You can plan for it. You've decided to become a mother, and you've planned for it. You have to plan it properly. Your planning can't affect the way the world works."
Many social media users criticized Kunal's comments, calling him misogynistic. One user wrote, "Soha and Kunal seemed like a couple goals to me, but he's misogynistic." Another user wrote, "We thought he was nice, but he's misogynistic." Another user wrote, "Kunal always seemed childish to me. This time, I'm sad I was right."
Although Deepika Padukone never publicly stated that she was demanding eight-hour work shifts from producers, reports suggest that this very demand led to her being dropped from the films "Spirit" and "Kalki 2." According to him, "We have accepted overworking as a normal thing. Eight hours a day is enough for the human body and mind."
