Neena Gupta Opens Up About Missed Opportunities in Bollywood
Neena Gupta on Her Journey: Neena Gupta considers her current career a rebirth, starting with "Badhaai Ho." However, Neena considers it a mistake to have done a film early in her career that robbed her of the opportunity to become a lead actress. Find out which film it is and why the actress considers it a mistake...
At the age of 66, Neena Gupta is quite busy with film roles in Bollywood. Right from doing main roles and roles as mothers to superheroes and heroine sons and daughters, Neena Gupta is doing every type of character and receiving accolades for them. However, Neena has not accomplished much in her early days as an actress, and this is something that Neena regrets. At an age of 23 years, Neena Gupta made her entry in films with her film "Saath Saath," since when she has been unable to become an accomplished actress.
Recently, during a conversation with Humans of Bombay, Neena Gupta spoke about her late-career success. She said, "I often wonder what I did wrong that I got my due so late. I think it's mostly my fault. But there's no point in dwelling on the past. I have to move forward. I can't have everything at this age, nor can I play younger characters. Whatever I'm getting now is good enough. I don't think too much about why I didn't get these opportunities when I was younger, when I could have done so much more. I often think that I could have done better work and looked better than many of today's heroines. But what's the point of that now?"
Taking responsibility for her career decisions, the actress said, "It was my mistake because I didn't always have patience. I kept wandering around looking for the wrong things." Most of the time, I had low self-confidence, and I think this hindered my progress. I had no one to guide me, no godmother, no godfather. Eventually, I realized that this industry is a business. Emotions have no place in it. I didn't understand the rules and the game.
Neena Gupta believes that her biggest mistake was starring in the 1982 Farooq Sheikh and Deepti Naval film "Saath Saath." In this film, Neena Gupta played a supporting role. She played Farooq Sheikh's love interest, Neena. She said, "Saath Saath" robbed her of the opportunity to establish herself as a lead actress. "That's my mistake," she said. "I've realized that when you admit your mistakes, the bitterness subsides. Otherwise, you keep blaming the world, and it never ends. It's better to accept your mistakes and move on."
