Rani Mukherjee and Kajol's brother Samrat Mukherjee arrested in Kolkata hit a bike rider

In a shocking incident in Kolkata, Bengali Actor and cousin of Rani Mukherjee & Kajol Samrat (37) was arrested by West Bengal Police on charges of living bigamous life for the last 12 years. The arrest followed a fatal crash in Kolkata's southwest Behala area early on Tuesday morning, where the police alleged that his car had hit a motorcycle.

According to PTI, the 29-year-old motorcyclist, a resident of Vidyasagar Colony in Behala, was initially taken to M.R. Bangur Hospital but was later transferred to SSKM for further treatment. Samrat is being investigated for this accident.

The bike rider, while describing the incident, said that he was returning home at around 12:30 in the night, when a car coming from the wrong direction at a high speed hit him, due to which he became unconscious.

Eyewitnesses present at the spot said that Samrat Mukherjee was going from Behala Chaurasta towards Tollygunge when suddenly he lost control of his vehicle. Due to this, his car collided with a motorcycle. After colliding with the motorcycle, his car also collided with a nearby house, due to which the boundary wall of the house got damaged.

It is now subject to inquiry. Police seized Samrat's car from Behala Police Station. He was produced in Alipore Court of Kolkata on Tuesday 20 August and sent to police custody till the date, confirmed reports.

Samrat is their cousin who also happened to be one of Kajol Rani Mukherjee Tanisha Mukherjee and Brahmastra director Ayan Mukherjeeji. He has appeared in movies like Ram Aur Shyam, Bhai Bhai, and Zanjeer. He also appeared on Bengali TV shows such as Tapeshya, Kaka Number 1, and Akash Kusum.
