Rasika Dugal, in her gracious acceptance of the award, expressed her heartfelt sentiments, saying, "It is indeed a great honor to be here today. My last visit to Chicago was 12 years ago for the Chicago International Film Festival, where I presented a very independent film. We shot it over weekends or whenever we could gather enough funds. It was at that festival that my work was first reviewed by critics, and the reviews were remarkably positive. Reading those words about my work was incredibly encouraging. So, Chicago has always held a special place in my heart. I feel incredibly fortunate to return to this city 12 years later, this time for another festival, showcasing yet another independent film. I take immense pride in the fact that in my journey as an actor, I have the opportunity to work on films that bring me to places like this while also contributing to more mainstream projects, which have become accessible to actors like me thanks to streaming services. Festivals like CSAFF play a pivotal role in encouraging artists like me, and I extend my sincere gratitude to CSAFF for their impeccable curation and for their unwavering support of our work."
