‘This Isn’t Creativity’: Sona Mohapatra Criticizes Badshah’s Song Tateeree

Singer Badshah recently made headlines for his new song, "Tateeree." The song's lyrics and some scenes were demeaning to women. Singer Sona Mohapatra slammed rapper Badshah on social media for this very song. Find out what Sona Mohapatra wrote about Badshah in her Instagram post.

Sona Mohapatra posted an Instagram post, writing, "This isn't the first time we've seen this. A man flaunting his masculinity. Objectifying women." He projects himself as an attractive hero, while women are objects. The song's lyrics go, "You are mad at me, you shower your life on me." Such statements exude unnecessary swagger. This isn't creativity. It's the laziest form of pop culture.

Sona further writes in her post, "It's not right to simply call yourself a son of Haryana with a sad face. Haryana already suffers from the worst gender ratio in the country and is grappling with violence against women and honor killings. Artists shape imagination. You could have challenged misogynistic thinking." Finally, singer Sona wrote, "Badshah, and many others, can do better."

Singer Sona Mahapatra also wrote a caption with her post, offering advice to the public. She writes, "Now young girls are being used as props in uniforms." Stop this nonsense that corrupts minds and souls. There are real men, good and respectable ones, who stand up and speak out. Let's make these men heroes? Let's make them what we want them to be? India deserves better than this.

Badshah recently released a track, "Tateeree." It featured young girls in school uniforms. The lyrics were highly offensive. This sparked controversy. The Women's Commission also sent a notice to Badshah. Seeing the growing controversy, Badshah apologized on social media.
