Tollywood Hails Hyderabad Police for Arresting Notorious Piracy Kingpin Immadi Ravi
Pawan Kalyan on Ibomma Founder Arrest: South superstar and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan praised the Hyderabad Police and expressed happiness over the arrest of the piracy website founder.
The move has widely been appreciated from the Telugu film industry to the political circles following the Hyderabad Police's arrest of Immadi Ravi, founder of the notorious piracy website. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and superstar Pawan Kalyan too has described the action as an achievement for the film industry. This swift action by the cyber crime team has indeed dismantled a network that had been causing severe losses to the revenue of South Indian films for years.
Sharing his reaction via a social media platform, Pawan Kalyan wrote that the operation conducted by the Hyderabad Cyber Team, at a time when piracy gangs are openly challenging the police, is commendable. He thanked Commissioner V.C. He congratulated Sajjanar and the entire team and said that this step will not only save the films' earnings but also the creative work.
According to him, piracy gangs not only cause financial losses but also destroy months of hard work behind a cinema in a single click. Placing films online on the first day of release undermines the structure of the entire industry. Therefore, the dismantling of the network of piracy websites and related sites is a major relief for filmmakers.
Recalling his past experiences, Pawan Kalyan explained that Commissioner Sajjanar has previously closely monitored digital crimes such as online betting, cheating, and financial fraud. He said that the awareness and action campaigns initiated under his leadership have set an example in many states.
He believes that this action against piracy sends a strong message not only to Telugu cinema but to the entire Indian entertainment industry—no matter how technical the digital crimes, it is impossible to escape the law.

On November 17, several prominent actors—Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, S.S. Rajamouli and prominent producers met with the Hyderabad Police Commissioner and thanked him for the action. The film industry had been demanding strict measures to eradicate digital piracy for years. Now that the main accused is in police custody, the industry hopes that digital piracy will be significantly reduced.
The Cyber Police investigation revealed that Immadi Ravi operated not just one website but also approximately 65 mirror websites. Together, these sites garnered approximately 3.7 million views per month. These platforms illegally uploaded films in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and other regional languages.
According to the investigation team, this network operated in such a systematic manner that it had servers and technical support located in several countries around the world. Dismantling this complex network posed a significant challenge for the police, which was finally accomplished when Immadi Ravi returned to the city.
