Vivek Agnihotri raised his voice on noise pollution, said - it has become a curse for lakhs of residents
Vivek Agnihotri: Bollywood director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has raised his voice on the noise pollution caused by the Mumbai Metro. He has shared a post on his official X account addressed to Mumbai Metro Corporation Managing Director Ashwini Bhide.
Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, a renowned Bollywood director, is known for talking openly on social issues. This time, he resorted to social media to express his worry over noise pollution and encouraged officials to take quick action to address the problem that affects thousands of homes.
In a message to Mumbai Metro Corporation Managing Director Ashwini Bhide, the director emphasised the significant impact of noise levels that are apparently surpassing the allowable decibel limit, affecting the lives of Mumbai residents. Vivek attempted to bring Bhide's attention to the predicament of vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, the sick, and children, who are having difficulties sleeping and learning due to the constant noise.
Sharing the post on Instagram, Vivek wrote, 'I am writing to you because every other citizen’s attempt with the Mumbai Metro Corporation has failed. As you are fully aware, the Metro in Mumbai has become a curse for millions of residents due to the dangerously high sound levels, far exceeding permissible decibel limits. The noise pollution created by the Metro is depriving people of sleep and making it impossible for children to study. The elderly and the sick are especially affected.'
The filmmaker further said, 'Thousands of Mumbaikars have been trying to bring this issue to the attention of the Mumbai Metro Corporation, but there has been nothing but total indifference and apathy, like any government department, as though the citizens suffering from the Metro’s illegal and inhuman sound pollution simply do not matter.' Along with this, the producer also raised many questions on the balance between development and the quality of life of the residents. However, Mumbai Metro Corporation Managing Director Ashwini Bhide has not yet responded to his post.
