Gollabhama Glory: Archana Kochhar Showcases Telangana Weaves at Miss World

In a harmonious blend of tradition and contemporary fashion, renowned designer Archana Kochhar has unveiled a reimagined collection of Gollabhama sarees for the 72nd Miss World pageant, currently underway in Telangana. This initiative not only showcases India’s rich textile heritage but also aligns with the pageant’s ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ ethos, celebrating cultural diversity and craftsmanship.

Originating from Siddipet in Telangana, Gollabhama sarees are distinguished by their intricate motifs depicting milkmaids, known as ‘Gollabhama’ in the local language. These motifs are meticulously woven into the fabric, a testament to the skill and dedication of the weavers. The sarees have earned the Geographical Indication (GI) tag and were recognized by UNESCO as an iconic textile craft of India, highlighting their cultural and artistic significance.

By integrating contemporary design elements with the classic Gollabhama weaves, she has created ensembles that exude regal elegance while retaining their comforting charm.
