Anurag Kashyap Reveals Why He Took Acting Break, Says Roles Became Repetitive
Anurag Kashyap: Actor and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is known for his selective roles. He recently opened up about taking a break from films.
Currently, Anurag Kashyap is in the news for his film "Dakait." Meanwhile, Anurag explained why he took a break from acting for a while. Find out the reason behind it.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, 53-year-old Anurag Kashyap, speaking about taking a break from films, said that he was repeatedly getting the same kind of roles. To avoid this, he deliberately quit acting. He didn't want people to perceive him as a fixed screen image. He recently made his Telugu cinema debut with the Telugu film "Dakait," which stars Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur.
Anurag Kashyap said, "People start seeing you in a certain way, and you keep getting similar roles. Over time, these roles start to feel like different versions of the same character." Regarding why he took a break from acting, Anurag said, "The roles, whether good or bad, were no longer offering me any new challenges." This is why he turned down several projects and took a break.
Anurag believes that one shouldn't take on work just because it comes to us. There should be a strong reason behind working. Now, he has returned to acting because he wants new and different challenges. Anurag Kashyap said, "I have seen many ups and downs in my career. Nothing lasts forever—neither fashion nor people's perceptions. Every Friday brings something new. Therefore, we must reinvent ourselves again and again, otherwise we get stuck in the same image."
"Dakait," which was released on April 10th, has collected ₹1.06 crore on Sunday, its 10th day of release. Starring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, the film has now earned a total of ₹31.66 crore at the box office.
