'I Didn't Know I Had Bulimia': Shah Rukh Khan's co-star Opens Up About Her Eating Disorder and Recovery

Sana Saeed, who featured in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai starrer Shah Rukh Khan's movie, spoke about one of the difficult phases of her life. She has also acted alongside Alia Bhatt in Student of the Year.

She revealed that she has been suffering from bulimia - an eating disorder - since she was little. She uploaded a video on her Instagram page talking about her concerns related to food problems and how hard it was for her. Reading the book 'The Bulimia Help Method' helped her understand the matter in a better way.

In the video, Sana said, "I didn't want to always eat in secret or live in fear that someone might walk into my room and think I was overeating.

I remember when I started reading this book, I realized what the real problem was. You are so scared that you don't want to face the truth. You live with it for years, feeling like something is terribly wrong with you."

Sana explained that the hardest part was admitting she had an eating disorder. She said, "I used to tell myself, 'Okay, there is an eating disorder, but this isn't it,' because it was very hard for me to accept that I had bulimia. I had never even heard of it during my childhood. I wish I had heard about it earlier; then I could have understood my problem right away."

In the caption of her Instagram post, Sana wrote, "For years, I didn't know I had an eating disorder. It wasn't that I wasn't suffering, but I had simply never heard those terms before." No one used to talk about this during my childhood.

I didn't even have the words to understand what I was going through, so I suffered in silence and isolation for a long time. It was only when I first read about bulimia that I understood what was happening to me. Even then, it took me years to accept it.

Sana shared that she has now fully recovered. She said, "I am completely well now, and I have never felt better. If you are also struggling with a similar issue, talk to someone you trust or seek help around you. You deserve to get the right help."
