‘We All Became Rich’: Producer Reveals Financial Strategy Behind ‘Dhurandhar’

There is news regarding the box-office hits of actor Ranveer Singh, who starred in the film Dhurandhar along with his sequel. The films are considered to be among the highest grossing films in the industry. Some significant information has emerged concerning the budget and financial aspects of the movie. According to reports, the two opted for a performance-based payment structure.
In an interview with the Economic Times, franchise co-producer Jyoti Deshpande discussed managing rising production costs. She explained that the makers adopted a risk-sharing model. According to Jyoti, "In Dhurandhar, Ranveer worked with a low fixed fee and a back-end deal, so he benefited from this approach. The same was true with Aditya. In the end, he benefited quite well, along with us."
She further added that this model ensured that everyone involved in the film had a full contribution to the film's success, rather than relying solely on large advance payments. Jyoti added, "We risked everything for 'Dhurandhar'. We spent twice as much as planned on 'Dhurandhar'. Of course, we ended up with a two-part film, so it became a long journey. In the end, we all became rich."
'Dhurandhar' was released in theaters on December 5, 2025, and 'Dhurandhar 2' was released on March 19 of this year. Both films starred Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Starring Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera and Danish Pandor, the first film grossed ₹1,307 crore worldwide, while its sequel grossed over ₹1,790 crore.
