Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu will headline Celebrity MasterChef Tamil, saying food brings people together and she is excited to watch Kollywood stars compete in the kitchen.
Mumbai: Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been roped in to headline the cooking reality show Celebrity MasterChef Tamil.
Sharing her excitement about the new venture, she said food has a wonderful way of bringing people together. The Yashoda actress added that she is looking forward to seeing familiar faces from the Tamil film industry compete in the kitchen and create lasting memories.
“I’m incredibly excited to finally share this with everyone. Celebrity MasterChef Tamil is unlike anything I’ve done before, and that’s exactly what made it impossible to say no. Food has a wonderful way of bringing people together, creating memories, and revealing a side of you that the cameras don’t usually get to see. What I’m most excited about is watching some of our favourite Tamil celebrities step into the kitchen, take risks, make mistakes, surprise themselves, and compete with a lot more passion than you’d expect,” she said.
“I wish I could tell you who’s cooking, but where’s the fun in that? I can’t wait for everyone to experience what we’re cooking up with Sony Vizha,” she added.
Backed by Banijay Asia, Celebrity MasterChef Tamil adapts the globally popular MasterChef format while retaining local flavour and personalities from Kollywood. The show is expected to premiere shortly on Sony VIZHA and Sony LIV, with exclusive content also planned across digital and social platforms.
On the personal front, Samantha is preparing to welcome her first child with filmmaker husband Raj Nidimoru. She confirmed her pregnancy at the success meet of her recent release Maa Inti Bangaaram and said she would take a maternity break after wrapping up her current professional commitments. “After Maa Inti Bangaaram, I will have to take a small break, given my condition. I’ll have to take maternity leave. After that, I’ll be back with another film for my fans,” she said at the time.
The MasterChef assignment adds a first-time hosting role in a competitive cooking format to her slate as she balances professional commitments with the approaching transition to motherhood.
