The film has been released approximately seven months after its original scheduled date. Its release had been stalled because it did not receive the green signal from the Censor Board; meanwhile, the film had also leaked online. After a long wait, audiences are finally able to watch it in theaters.
Apart from Vijay, 'Jana Nayagan' features Pooja Hegde, along with stars like Bobby Deol and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. The film's music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander. According to media reports, Vijay received a fee ranging from ₹220 crore to ₹275 crore for this film. If these figures are to be believed, Vijay has become the highest-paid actor in Indian cinema.
