Supreme Court Allows Kangana to Withdraw Petition Over Book Dispute

Actress Kangana Ranaut received the Supreme Court's approval to withdraw her petition in the Didda case. A police report (FIR) has been filed against her in Mumbai. Writer Ashish Kaul has accused her of using his book without permission.
In a hearing in the Bombay High Court on Wednesday, Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut received permission to withdraw her petition in the Didda case. An FIR was filed against the actress at the Khar police station in Mumbai in 2021, accusing her of using pages from an author's book for her film. Ashish Kaul initially approached the magistrate court for this matter, and the court subsequently directed him to file an FIR. Consequently, the police filed a charge sheet against Kangana.
This legal battle began when actress Kangana Ranaut tweeted to announce her film "Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda." She used excerpts from author Ashish Kaul's book in a tweet, but without the author's permission. A Hindi translation of the book has now been released.
