Bhagyashree Reveals Why She Was Paid More Than Salman Khan in Maine Pyar Kiya
Salman Khan: An actress received a higher fee than Salman Khan in a film. The actress has expressed her views on this matter. She has explained what women should do to earn a good salary.
Actress Bhagyashree is delighted by the performance of the movie Raja Shivaji. On the other hand, the actress has been talking about the remuneration she received for the movie "Maine Pyar Kiya" released in 1989, where she was paid more than her co-actor Salman Khan.
In a conversation with Zoom, Bhagyashree was asked why she received a higher fee than Salman Khan in "Maine Pyar Kiya." In response, she said that an actor's fee is determined by supply and demand. She said, "I don't know if people will like what I do or not. It largely depends on supply and demand. It's a simple business."
Bhagyashree further said, "No matter how hard a woman works, if the producer feels that someone else is willing to work for her at a better price, they will stick to the price they want to pay that particular actress. In such a situation, the actress has to decide whether to take the work offered to her or leave it. Until all women come together and say that we should be paid this much, the situation will not improve."
She further said, "There will always be someone who will be willing to negotiate and back down. There will always be someone who will say, 'Okay, I'll do this instead of this,' whether it's about working hours or payment terms. It's a very volatile market."
It's worth noting that in 2023, actress Parveen Dastur, who played Seema in "Maine Pyar Kiya," revealed that Bhagyashree, not superstar Salman Khan, was the highest paid lead actress in the film. Parveen claimed that Bhagyashree was paid ₹150,000 for the film. Salman Khan previously stated in an interview that he was paid ₹75,000 for the same film. "Maine Pyar Kiya" was released in 1989.
