The diamond-studded earrings valued at Rs 1.35 crore, which were hired for Rhea Kapoor’s visit to New York, have been stolen. A theft complaint has been filed by the filmmaker with the Mumbai Police. Rhea Kapoor had gone to New York to attend a fashion show.

As reported by PTI, an official from the Sahar Police Station revealed that celebrity makeup artist Savleen Singh (41), who has been working with Rhea Kapoor for seven years, was carrying two sets of expensive earrings borrowed from a jeweler in Mumbai.

Rhea Kapoor and her team had traveled to New York to attend the Met Gala. According to the complaint, the jewelry rented from Mehta Jewellers and Goenka Jewellers was packed in two separate boxes and placed inside Savleen Singh's handbag.

The police stated that the team departed from Mumbai on an Emirates flight on April 27 and arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on April 28, via Dubai. Citing the complaint, the police official mentioned that after checking into 'The Pierre' hotel, Savleen Singh found the jewelry boxes empty when she opened them.

The total value of the missing earrings ran into crores. According to the filed complaint, one set consisted of 18-carat gold earrings studded with emeralds and diamonds, valued at ₹66 lakh. Another set included earrings featuring Zambian emeralds and gold borders, valued at ₹69 lakh.

Upon returning to Mumbai, Savleen Singh lodged a complaint with the Sahar Police. An FIR for theft has been registered against an unknown person under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The police have stated that further investigation into this matter is underway.
