Ram Gopal Varma appears before Andhra police: Film director Ram Gopal Varma appeared before Prakasam district police on Tuesday. The director appeared in a case related to tampered photos of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and others.
Producer-director Ram Gopal Varma showed up before the Andhra Pradesh Police on Tuesday in connection with a case for the tampering of photographs of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Ram Gopal is charged with sharing morphed images of CM Naidu on social media, allegedly.
A case was filed against the director on November 11, 2024, at Maddipadu police station in Prakasam district for supposedly sharing morphed photos of CM Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and his family members on social media.
Prakasham district Superintendent of Police (SP) AR Damodar told news agency PTI, 'We gave a questionnaire and asked him who tampered with the photographs and on whose instructions it was done'? He said Ram Gopal Varma was questioned about the reasons for insulting CM Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and others, and also asked if he had any dispute with them earlier?
When asked about the months-long delay in summoning Ram Gopal Varma after the case began in November 2024, SP Damodar said that he would be called as per requirement and there was no restriction on summoning him. Meanwhile, a police officer said that the interrogation of Verma began at around 11 am today and continued throughout the day.
The case was registered against Ram Gopal Varma under various sections based on a complaint received from Ramalingam (45) of Maddipadu. In this, he had accused Ram Gopal Varma of using social media to spread derogatory content against Naidu and his family, including his son Lokesh and daughter-in-law Brahmani.
