Her daughter and renowned actress, Jurassic Park star Laura Dern (58), shared the sad news in a statement on Monday. She said her mother passed away at her home in Ohai, California, while Dern was with her. However, the cause of her death was not disclosed.
Laura Dern paid emotional tribute to her mother, saying, "She was my amazing hero and a precious gift. She was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist, and sensitive soul—the kind one can only dream of. We are fortunate to have had her in our lives."
Diane Ladd was a talented comic and dramatic performer. She spent a long career on television and stage before entering films. She gained recognition in the film world with Martin Scorsese's 1974 film "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," in which her role as "Flo" captivated audiences. She was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for this role.
During her acting career spanning more than six decades, she was nominated for three Oscars and three Emmy Awards. Born Diane Ladner on November 29, 1935, in Laurel, Mississippi, Ladd began acting at a young age. After moving to Hollywood and shortening her surname, Ladd appeared on TV shows such as "Naked City" and "Perry Mason" in the 1950s and 1960s.
