Malayalam actress Kaviyoor Ponnamma dies, said goodbye to the world while fighting cancer

Veteran Malayalam actress Kaviyoor Ponnamma is no more. Ponnamma bid adieu to the world fighting cancer at 80 years old. The actress succumbed to treatment at a private city hospital on Friday, September 20. She breathed her last on Friday at 5.33 pm. Since the news came out, there has been a pouring of tribute to her through social media posts from fans.

The actress has been ill with cancer since May. Hospital sources said she was suffering from stage four cancer. Meanwhile, hospital officials issued a statement stating, 'She was admitted to the hospital on September 3, but her condition turned worse. During the treatment, she breathed her last at 5.33 pm and bid adieu to this world in the presence of family members.

According to sources in the film industry, the mortal remains of the eminent actress will be kept at Kalamassery Municipal Town Hall on Saturday and people will be allowed to pay their last respects there. From there, it will be taken to her residence in Aluva where she will be cremated inside the premises. It was known that Kaviyoor Ponnamma has been working in the FFiilm industry for over six decades. During that time, she worked in more than 700 films. Mostly she played the role of a mother. Her first film was 'Shriram Pattabhishekam' released in 1962. She also appeared in more than 27 Malayalam television serials and also sang some songs in films.
