Piyush Mishra Slams Bollywood’s Big Entourages, Praises South Industry’s Simplicity
Piyush Mishra: Actor Piyush Mishra has shared his experience working in the South. He compared Bollywood to the South on one point. Let's find out what he said.
Of late, complaints have been piling up against actors travelling with entourages that end up adding to film budgets. Recently, even filmmakers like Karan Johar and Farah Khan voiced their complaints. Now, joining the chorus is Bollywood actor Piyush Mishra. He said that people in South India don't face such problems, while actors in Bollywood often have 12 bodyguards and 8-9 assistants.
In a conversation with Curly Tales, Piyush explained that he enjoys working in the South because the people there are friendly. Recalling her experience working with S. Shankar in "Indian 2," she said, "He's such a big director, but he came to introduce himself to me."
Talking about Bollywood, she said, "It's a strange thing about stardom. Actors have huge entourages. Eight or nine people accompany them. They have 12 or 14 bodyguards. What's the need? You're alone, who's going to kill you? One person is there to drink, one to get a haircut, one to do your hair, and one to do your makeup. What's the need to put so much burden on others?"
Earlier, in her vlog with Rakesh Roshan, Farah had talked about how filmmakers used to travel with fewer people, but now actors travel with larger groups. This increases costs. Karan Johar had also raised this issue.
Piyush began his career in theater and later made his film debut in Mani Ratnam's 1998 film "Dil Se...." He has starred in films such as "Gangs of Wasseypur," "Maqbool," "Tamasha," and "Indian 2." He was last seen in the 2025 film "Crazy."
