Sameera Reddy Opens Up on Childhood Bullying Over Stuttering, Says ‘It Took Years of Therapy’

Sameera Reddy is an actress known for speaking her mind and sharing her views on a variety of topics such as gaining weight during pregnancy, the challenges faced by mothers, and depression. The actress has now opened her heart about how she was bullied and ridiculed during her childhood for her condition of stuttering and how it took her years of therapy to gain confidence again.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Sameera opened up about her childhood struggles. She said, "I saw it firsthand. I grew up with a stutter and was bullied because of it."

It took me years of therapy to regain my confidence. Even today, if I stutter and someone reacts, it hurts me. Childhood labels can have such a deep impact. Labels, even if they're normal, can silently impact a child's self-confidence.

The actress further explained that being repeatedly called "stupid" or "weak" can create internal doubts in children. This makes them reluctant to try or take risks academically and socially. When a child is repeatedly called "weak" or "stupid," they begin to believe it. This belief gradually shapes their self-esteem, and they may stop trying altogether.

Speaking about her children, Sameera Reddy said, "I tell my children to talk to me. Understand that struggling in one area isn't their identity. Never put anyone down in return."

When children receive encouragement, guidance, and opportunities to learn at their own pace, their self-confidence grows.
