R. Madhavan, an actor, reacted to being called a “Sanghi” and the criticism of his film "Dhurandhar". The movie is considered as being in favor of the government and having propagandist nature. The actor insists on his unwillingness to hide his patriotism towards India.

In an interview with Galata Plus, when asked about being called a "Sanghi," Madhavan said, "I have never shared anything against any party or its leaders. If someone has done something good, I have promoted it."

He said, "When someone is elected Chief Minister or Prime Minister, I feel it's my duty to support them. I read the comments, but it doesn't affect my decision-making. If someone makes me feel bad about this, I want to question their intentions."

Madhavan also dismissed the political criticism surrounding "Dhurandhar." He said, "The story of the film 'Dhurandhar' is based on Pakistan. Whatever happens there, good or bad, affects India. I'm an actor, and my job is to show reality. My personal opinion is that I just want to showcase the good things about India in a better way. That can't be a crime."

At the time of the film's release, many social media users alleged that "Dhurandhar" promoted ultra-nationalist propaganda and glorified the current political system.

R. Madhavan played Intelligence Bureau Director Ajay Sanyal in Aditya Dhar's two-part series "Dhurandhar." His role was largely inspired by India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
