Director Suparn S. Varma Says Women Still Fighting for Existence, Ahead of Yami Gautam’s Film Haq
Haq Director Suparn S. Varma Talks About Glass Ceiling Issue: "Haq" director Suparn S. Varma believes that even today, a large section of women in our society remains marginalized. Why does he think so? Find out.
Suparn S. Varma directed the film "Haq," where Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi star. It is inspired by the 1978 Shah Bano case. Recently, the director spoke about women's rights and issues.
The film "Haq" depicts women's struggle for respect and basic human rights. In an interview with PTI, director Suparn S. Varma said, "Even today, women are fighting society for their existence." We talk about many marginalized groups, but the truth is that the world's largest 'backward class' is still women."
He further adds, "There's a saying that the more things change, the more they stay the same. The situation is the same today. The same is true for women today. The difference between a man and a woman remains the same. These are issues that exist all over the world. This is the story of Shazia Bano in the film 'Haq.'" It should be noted that this film is inspired by the Mohammad Ahmed Khan vs. Shah Bano Begum case.
In the film 'Haq,' Yami Gautam plays Shazia Bano, and Hashmi plays her husband, lawyer Abbas Khan. The director has highly praised Yami Gautam's hard work and acting. Suparn says, "You must have seen many of Yami's films; she has a unique style of walking and talking. She reinvented everything within herself to create the character of Shazia Bano. She became Shazia Bano on set." We were on set for 32 days, and we didn't see Yami. We only saw Shazia Bano. I think this is the best acting performance of her career. She'll reach even greater heights from here.
