‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ Explores Faith and Nature, Says Rishab Shetty After Massive Box Office Success
Rishabh Shetty on Kantara Chapter 1: Actor-director Rishabh Shetty recently spoke about the film "Kantara: Chapter 1." He also addressed the misconceptions being spread about the film.
The Kannada movie "Kantara: Chapter 1" was a subject of discussion ever since its release. While it hit the theaters on October 2nd, the movie not only crossed the ₹600 crore barrier at the box office but also made a strong impression on the hearts of the people. Now, the producer, director, and actor of the movie, Rishabh Shetty, has expressed his views and experiences regarding the movie.
Recently, while discussing the film, Rishabh Shetty stated that "Kantara: Chapter 1" is not a part of any political ideology or propaganda. The story is based on faith, belief, and a human connection to nature. He said, "I didn't tie this film to any ideology; I simply wanted to tell a story that awakens inner feelings within humans. It's a story rooted in our folklore and the soul of Indianness."
The film contains many deep symbols of faith and spirituality. Rishabh Shetty explained that for him, spirituality is not a spectacle, but a part of life. He said, "My mother worships a lot, and this tradition has become a way of life for our family. When I start shooting, I begin by worshipping the camera. This isn't just a ritual, but a symbol of our faith." He believes that just as a person enters a temple and has a spiritual dialogue with God, the film "Kantara: Chapter 1" offers an experience to the audience—it's up to the audience to decide how they perceive it.
According to Rishab Shetty, the biggest challenge of "Kantara: Chapter 1" was developing its story. Compared to the 2022 film "Kantara," this chapter is more complex and in-depth. The director explains, "The story was straightforward in the first part, but this time, establishing the characters' motives, relationships, and emotions was the most difficult part."
The film is set in pre-colonial Karnataka, depicting the conflict between forest-dwelling tribes and a tyrannical king. The team spent months researching to bring the historical truths and folklore of this period to life.
